A Fond Farewell, a Bright Future

Dear Fans of Civic Stadium,

It’s official, the Emeralds are leaving Civic, and the last Ems game of what looks to be their last season at this venerable stadium has come and gone.

On behalf of the Board of Directors of Save Civic Stadium, we would like to extend our best wishes to the Ems and the Beban family as they finish out their season and their long run here.

Summertime in Eugene and Ems' baseball at Civic have been synonymous for many wonderful years. Our community can be very grateful for what that combination has meant and we are all understandably sad to see it end.

But don't think it's the last time you'll watch a game at Civic, the last time you'll sit in the marvelous grandstand, or the last time you’ll hear the sound of a cheering crowd make its way through the neighborhood.

Save Civic Stadium is marching steadily forward with plans and strategic work to ensure that Civic Stadium will continue to be a vital part of our community.

In its 70 years of history, Civic Stadium has seen many different uses. Many different sports have been played here. Other teams have come and gone. There are multiple options for Civic’s future as a thriving venue – including baseball, soccer, softball, tournaments, exhibitions, special events and year-round use. We have a route mapped out for getting to that future, we’re working with national and local experts to guide us, and we are building the community teams that can get it done. We invite you to join us in this important work.

Thousands of you have signed up on our lists and we are very grateful for that tremendous show of support for the stadium. But it is time for all of us to step up our efforts. Please contact us and let us know that you are ready and willing to be an active part of a new era for Civic Stadium.
